Despite their gruelling journey, arguably the biggest issue refugees are facing are that when they arrive in a country of safety, they are very negatively received. If these residents truly understood what the refugees endure on their way to safety, they would have a bit more respect for them.
By using this theme of journeys as a mutual connection between two people with nothing in common, it creates a platform for empathy. Hypothetically, the charity The Red Cross would partner up with organisations in the transport sector to tap into peoples lives when they least expect it, create the link, and ask them to do something about it.
